Duties and authorities
1.Serve as organist for 42 worship services per year (3
Sundays per month [one of which will be Easter Sunday], plus services on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Ash Wednesday, Maundy
Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Sunrise Service); the playing schedule for regular Sunday services is flexible; 2.Recruit
and direct an adult choir to sing at least twice a month at the 10:30 a.m. service, September through May; 3.Accompany
the choir (in the absence of another accompanist) or other special music (soloists, duets, flutes, etc.) – this may
require rehearsal time with other musicians; 4.Recruit and plan for special vocal or instrumental music (quartets, duets,
etc.) at the 10:30 a.m. service at least one Sunday per month and at the Christmas Eve and Easter services; recruit and plan
for special vocal or instrumental music at the 8:15/9:00 a.m. service as opportunities present themselves; 5.Participate
in monthly Worship Committee meetings; 6.Assist the pastor in selecting songs and other music for the 8:15/9:00 a.m. worship
services; 7.Assist the pastor in planning festival services, such as Christmas Eve and Easter services; 8.Secure, with
the assistance of the pastor and worship committee, instrumental musicians when desired; 9.Authority to spend funds budgeted
for “choirs”; 10.Authority to spend funds budgeted for “worship support”; 11.Free use of the
Faith pipe organ and piano for giving lessons, recitals, etc.
This is a part-time position, calling for an average of
60 hours per month. In general, this position is primarily responsible to the Worship Committee and secondarily responsible
to the pastor; but for the conduct of worship service specifics, the position is primarily responsible to the pastor. We would
expect a minimum of four weeks notice for resignation.
